This delicious recipe soup contains key nutrients for postpartum healing like iron, omega-3s, Magnesium, and choline. Plus, it's gluten-free and dairy-free, making it not only versatile for those with dietary restrictions but easier to digest.

Here's everything you need to know about why this soup belongs on your postpartum meal plan and how to make it, in a simple and straightforward way that even the busiest new parents can follow.

Why This Soup is Perfect for Postpartum Recovery

Packed with Essential Nutrients for Healing After Birth:

  • Iron and Magnesium are critical for restoring energy levels and supporting recovery after childbirth. The turkey and gluten-free sausage deliver a hearty dose of these minerals.
  • Choline and Vitamin D are important for optimal brain health and mood regulation. These nutrients are found in egg and chicken broth.
  • Omega-3s, which are found in flaxseed and chia seeds, provide anti-inflammatory benefits that support healing.

Easy to Digest:

This soup is light yet filling, making it easy on sensitive postpartum stomachs.

Quick and Freezer-Friendly:

The recipe makes 6-8 servings, so double it and freeze portions for those extra-tiring days. You'll be glad you have it later after a long day with your newborn when you have a warm, delicious meal ready with no cooking required.

Comfort Food, Reimagined:

Italian wedding soup is a classic for a reason: warm, satisfying, and filled with love. This version amps up the nutrition without sacrificing the cozy factor, providing a comforting embrace during this challenging time.

For the Meatballs:

  • 1/2 lb. ground turkey
  • 1/2 lb. gluten-free sausage (rich in iron)
  • 1 egg (choline and vitamin D)
  • 1/4 cup gluten-free breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp flaxseed meal (Omega-3s)
