With a few intentional strategies, you can simplify your life in postpartum and feel a little more calm, supported, and in control—even when nothing else feels predictable.


As a postpartum doula, mother, and agency owner, I've helped hundreds of families find practical ways to reduce stress and reclaim rest. Here's how to make your days feel easier and more supported, even in the thick of it.


Create Stations to Minimize Movement


Set yourself up to move less—and rest more. By creating small stations throughout your home, you'll eliminate the stress of constantly searching for supplies when you're tired.


Try this:

  • Set up a diapering basket with wipes, extra clothes, and creams on each floor of your home.
  • Keep a nursing or bottle-feeding caddy near your main rest area, stocked with water, burp cloths, snacks, and a phone charger.
  • Place a change of clothes for you and baby in every room where you spend time—blowouts don't happen on schedule.


These small systems can save you precious energy and help reduce chaos.


Simplify Nighttime Support for Better Sleep


Nighttime can feel especially stressful when you're running on empty. Whether breastfeeding, pumping, or using formula, a little prep goes a long way.


Simplify feedings by:

  • Prepping bottles and placing them in a cooler bag or fridge caddy before bed.
  • Using a dim nightlight and white noise to avoid overstimulation.
  • Trying side-lying nursing or using a comfortable chair for bottle feeds to reduce back strain.


If sleep feels impossible, know this: overnight postpartum support is an option. A night doula can take the lead on feedings, diaper changes, and soothing so you can get the rest your body desperately needs.

You don't need to do it all. You're not supposed to. Ask your partner or family to take on specific tasks: bottle washing, middle-of-the-night changes, or prepping meals. If loved ones ask how to help, give them a task—drop off food, do a load of laundry, pick up a grocery order.
